When I started wildDesert in March 2022, it wasn’t because I had some grand vision board and a five-year plan.
Nope. I had a mortgage and a gut feeling that I was meant for more than asking permission to take 2 weeks off work… Oh and *ahem* the world shut down.
I’d spent 9 years in a “dream” desk job — Monday to Friday, 8:30–5:00 — and felt like my soul was slowly dissolving into my office chair.
I knew I was creative (I gave myself a mullet at age 3, so… credentials).
But I didn’t know how to turn that into a business.
So I did what any mildly panicked, caffeine-fuelled, ex-beauty therapist would do.
I DIY-ed a business from the ground up.
I created design packages that felt fun.
Set up backend tech systems (Flodesk, ILY).
Started mentoring clients on social media.
Built my confidence while helping others build theirs.
And accidentally fell in love with writing copy — the kind that oozes personality and makes people go “holy sh*t, I need that.”
I also built my first lead magnet before I even knew what a lead magnet was.
Same with email nurturing.
Same with automations.
Turns out, I was funneling before funneling was cool.
But here’s what I realised:
Most business owners have incredible offers… and zero systems to support them.
They’re at the mercy of Instagram’s ever-flaky algorithm.
